Labor Day, always held on the first Monday of September, honors the American labor movement and the numerous contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of the country. The holiday also marks the unofficial end to summer, and for many Americans, creates a nice three-day break. Take a look at these 2016 Labor Day weekend events in the San Antonio and Austin-area.
San Antonio River Walk Labor Day Arts & Crafts Show

LaborFest San Antonio

LaborFest San Antonio is an annual three-day multicultural music and art festival. It started in 2012 as a way to provide family-friendly entertainment that appeals to San Antonio’s growing community. The event includes food and drink vendors and live performances from national, regional and local artists. LaborFest San Antonio not only looks to provide entertainment but also to give back to the community through scholarships, education and career advancement opportunities. (Hemisfair Park & Henry B. Tri-Rock Austin Triathlon – Austin
September 5 • 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
The Austin Triathlon became part of the TriRock Triathlon Series in 2012. This annual event takes place on Monday of Labor Day weekend in the heart of downtown Austin. The urban setting provides a swim start at the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue with a swim course in Lady Bird Lake, fast and closed bike course with stunning views over the Congress Street Bridge and finishes with a run along the Auditorium Shores running path. Film Family Labor Day – Austin
September 5 • 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Film Family Labor Day is an event acknowledging the entertainment crews and filmmakers of Texas. Join the festivities to celebrate all walks of the entertainment industry with food, activities and fun. Food will be provided, but all are encouraged to bring a potluck dish to share and enjoy.
